Many people experience great pain and confusion because of this scripture. They have asked God for jobs, for interviews, for money and other things, and they’ve been disappointed. Let’s see if we can find the problem. Do you think this promise means you can ask to marry someone else’s spouse, or request a job held by a neighbor? Of course not. You can’t ask for things “in Jesus’ name” that don’t agree with the character of Jesus. Jesus does what we request “so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.” Only when we align with the Holy Spirit and step out in faith, can we count on the name of Jesus for supernatural support. This Word guarantees that our prayers will be effective when all the Kingdom conditions have been met. It's good news that when we "ask amiss" God is good enough to ignore the request. Otherwise we'd get ourselves into all manner of problems!
WORDS OF LIFE:
- I have unshakable faith in the name of Jesus when I use it as God directs.
- I live to bring God glory with my words, actions and life.
- I expect to see God’s intervention in my life when I pray His will and exercise my faith in Jesus’ name.
Word of the Day
You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. (NLT)
